How do I find volunteer opportunities?

To get a sense of our current volunteer opportunities, you can click the "Opportunities" button on the left-hand menu. If you'd like to connect with a Volunteer Programs staff member to discuss these opportunities, please complete our volunteer inquiry form here. We do require you to complete the onboarding process before you begin volunteering with us. For more information on that process, see below.

What is the onboarding process?

By volunteering with Catholic Charities Boston, you may be working with vulnerable clients in your community. For the majority of our volunteer opportunities, you will be asked to complete the following onboarding steps:

1. Complete a brief interview with a member of our staff.

2. Create an account on the volunteer website. If you are a recurring volunteer, please create an "Individual" account; click here for step-by-step instructions. If you are coming for a one-time/annual event or group opportunity, please create an "Event/Group" account; click here for step-by-step instructions.

3. Complete and clear a background check. This is typically done with program staff on site.

Once those steps are completed, you'll be able to volunteer for the majority of our opportunities. Some programs and opportunities require additional background checks, especially for those involving children. 

How can my group volunteer with you?

We would be happy to partner with you to create a group volunteer opportunity; please complete our brief group volunteer inquiry form here. Group volunteer opportunities do not typically require background checks.

 

My child is a minor; can they volunteer?

Currently the minimum age to volunteer is 14, though there are some exceptions to that policy for children volunteer WITH their parents at events where clients are not present. All minors under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a Minor Waiver before starting service (this is integrated into the process of creating an account). Opportunities for minors are limited, please look at the minimum age when signing up for the opportunity.
