The Haitian Multi-Service Center (HMSC) at Catholic Charities Yawkey Center is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to assist with a basic computer skills class for adult learners! This is a rewarding opportunity to directly impact the lives of adult learners as they pursue their educational and career goals.  The program operates on Boston Public Schools schedule for holidays and breaks.

Requirements: 

Support the Computer Skills instructor during class activities.Sit one-on-one with students who need assistance with computer tasks, as needed.Assist students with setting up and putting away laptops, as needed.

Qualifications:

Availability on Monday mornings from 9:00-11:00 AM.Commitment of at least 3 months.Comfort with technology.Must be able to communicate patiently and empathetically with adults who may have limited computer skills and may be anxious with technology.Desire to support adult learners.Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.Experience working with adult learners or in an educational setting is desirable, but not required.

Requirements: 

Attend math classes to assist the Math Instructor and learn strategies for supporting adult learners in math.Meet with Math Instructor at certain intervals for training, support, and to check in on student progress.Work with one or more students outside class weekly to support their math learning during class activities.

Qualifications:

Availability during school hours (Tuesday and/or Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM.)Reliability and commitment to a consistent schedule.Minimum commitment of 3 hours per week for at least 6 months.Comfort with math content up to a high school level.Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.Willingness to learn strategies and skills to support adult learners with disabilities or diverse learning needs.Experience working with adult learners or in an educational setting is desirable, but not required.

The Haitian Multi-Service Center (HMSC) at Catholic Charities Yawkey Center is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to tutor adult students who are at the beginning stage of learning to read.  The program operates on Boston Public Schools schedule for holidays and breaks.

Requirements: 

Commitment for at least 3 months.Available for at least two hours within the following schedule: Mondays, Tuesday, and/or Thursdays from 11:15AM-2:00PM.Comfort working with students who have learning challenges (mostly requires a ton of patience).Ability and willingness to learn and follow specific techniques for helping students with specific challenges to progress their reading (simply following teacher's lead).Experience working with adult learners or in an educational setting is desirable, but not required.
