The Haitian Multi-Service Center (HMSC) at Catholic Charities Yawkey Center is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to tutor adult students who are at the beginning stage of learning to read. The program operates on Boston Public Schools schedule for holidays and breaks.
Requirements:
- Commitment for at least 3 months.
- Available for at least two hours within the following schedule: Mondays, Tuesday, and/or Thursdays from 11:15AM-2:00PM.
- Comfort working with students who have learning challenges (mostly requires a ton of patience).
- Ability and willingness to learn and follow specific techniques for helping students with specific challenges to progress their reading (simply following teacher's lead).
- Experience working with adult learners or in an educational setting is desirable, but not required
