On the 4th Wednesday of the month, volunteers will help delivery food to elders in their homes. Our Brockton office receives a monthly food delivery which we separate into individual bags so that we can deliver food to elders that same day. The process of separating groceries into bags can start at different times depending on the food bank's schedule - sometimes arriving in the morning and other times after 12 noon. Volunteers meet with program director at our Brockton offices, pick up the list of their assigned clients along with the food they will be delivering. Volunteers must have a reliable vehicle to make deliveries. Patience and being open to learning about different cultures and diverse communities are the most important skills volunteers must possess. We ask that volunteers commit to a regular schedule.
Additional language skills (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese) are helpful but not required.
Training and orientation provided prior to first volunteer shift. All volunteers undergo a background check.
